Under general supervision of a pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician I
performs technical tasks within the pharmacy department. Based on
area of assignment, responsibilities may include medication
preparation, compounding, dispensing, inventory control, unit dose
prepackaging, and basic computer system operations. Demonstrates
the ability to competently work in general areas of pharmacy
practice.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, peers, nurses, and
providers to improve patient outcomes and quality metrics in both
general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Triages and
escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician
scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.

- Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision
of a licensed pharmacist. Uses appropriate systems for processing
of patient information. (30%)
- Complies with established departmental and DHHA policies and
procedures, code of conduct, quality improvement, infection
control, and safety initiatives. Ensures quality assurance is
maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.

- Participates in the training of new employees in both general
and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. (10%)
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient
care. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. (10%)
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB
Required
Licenses:
- PTCBCPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - BPS - Board of
Pharmacy Specialties Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work as a team member
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
- Mathematical computation skills
- Organization and communication skills
- Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred
